Spur Group is a listed South African company, housing many of the most well loved brands in the country, with its flagship brand the Spur chain of restaurants. Spur Group was looking for a company that is able to operate in the enterprise digital space, be able to deliver world class UX and Design and have the technical know how to implement. Lima Bean was recommended to them and so the journey started.
We have worked on a number of Spur Group brands, including re-conceptualising, designing and developing the website for Nikos, as well as doing so for it’s flagship brand, Spur. Both projects entailed having a detailed UX / Design phase, where all the major stakeholders of the Spur Group were involved. This involved creating a number of prototypes and holding workshops with the execs. The sites were built on Lima Bean’s enterprise CMS, labelled by the client (experienced in a number of other CMS’) as “probably the best CMS we have worked with”. The CMS is integrated with Spur Group’s API and lets the client manage the site uniquely for the different countries that the brands operate in, with each country able to have it’s own content and images. The Spur website also features a fast, relevance based search, based on Elastic Search.
The Nikos and Spur rebuilds both received outstanding reviews. Organic traffic share grew by between 5 and 10%, mobile traffic share is higher and both site's bounce rates improved. Lima Bean is continuing to work closely with Spur Group, taking over and maintaining many of the older sites as well as the newly built ones, with exciting projects in the pipeline.
